Hey, my green thumbs and spice lovers! Excited to share my latest garden experiment with all of you β with a touch of Jamaican heat! πΆοΈπ₯ You know, us gardeners have a special connection with nature, and I couldn’t resist adding a little island twist to my creation!
My garden, and my imagination running wild with the vibrant flavors of my heritage. I decided to blend what brings together the boldness of Jamaican scotch bonnet peppers and the heat of Canadian-grown jalapenos, straight from my own backyard.
Now, here’s the rundown of the island-inspired ingredients I threw into the mix:
- 6 fresh jalapenos for that garden grown zing
- 2 fiery scotch bonnets (you know we love our spice!)
- Cherry tomatoes, right from the vine (they won’t stop growing)
- A dash of thyme, reminiscent of my mothers kitchen
- Caramelized onions and garlic goodness β essential flavours
- 2/3 cup of vinegar for a kick
- 1 cup of water to balance out the heat
Of course, my secret blend of island spices with Jamaican homeland mystique, right? π
I seared all these fantastic ingredients in my cast iron skillet (keep it authentic). Let it all simmer in a pot, letting those flavours marry and create a symphony of taste.
Next came the moment of truth β blending time! The vibrant colours and the rich aroma were promising signs that this hot sauce was gonna to work out!
A little taste is required β “fire fi you,” indeed! It is spicy, it is flavourful, and it has an island kick.
After bottling up the hot sauce, I let it rest for a while, allowing the flavours to deepen and harmonize. Family gave me two thumbs up, and some even said they needed to pair it with some classic Jamaican Rice & Peas to experience the full flavour!
Now, I’m considering sharing this hot sauce love beyond my circle. Who knows, maybe it’s destined to bring that Jamaican heat to kitchen tables all over Canada! But for now, it’s my little island secret that I’m thrilled to gift to loved ones.
So, my fellow garden adventurers, if you ever find yourself with an abundance of jalapenos, scotch bonnets, or cherry tomatoes, don’t be afraid to mix things up and create your very own hot sauce! Embrace your garden and let your imagination run wild β it’s the best way to add a personal touch to your culinary dishes.
Next on my list is to get my Beets and Callaloo growing. Until next time, happy gardening! π₯π±
