In the realm of retro gaming, nostalgia reigns supreme, and pixels hold a timeless charm for enthusiasts like me. While some may chase after the latest cutting-edge titles, I’m drawn to the classics, the relics of gaming’s past. For those of us who grew up with controllers in hand, the desire to relive those cherished moments is irresistible. And for some, we just couldn’t get that piece of gaming tech we wanted.
My journey into retro game collecting is fueled by a passion for preserving the magic of yesteryear. While I’ve yet to lay my hands on relics like the ZX Spectrum or Amiga, I’ve formed a deep bond with consoles from Atari, Sega, Nintendo, and more. Maybe I will take some time to talk about them in another post. Each acquisition was a step closer to recapturing the essence of my childhood.
One console has been elusively expensive: the Atari Jaguar. That console will go to the realm of “I should have bought it when I had the chance”. Loved the design and the promise of cutting-edge gaming. Yes, it failed, but who cares. One day, the Jaguar will grace my collection.
As for now, I will continue to scour flea markets, online auctions, and retro gaming expos in search of any piece of gaming history. Yes, it’s all a bit random, but hey, it’s all for the love of retro!
